Jharkhand Moves Towards Zero Accident Vision: Key Proposals Submitted During Ranchi Visit

In a significant step toward enhancing Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards, a high-level meeting was held in Ranchi with senior officials from the Government of Jharkhand to discuss the implementation of a Zero Accident Vision across industries.

The delegation met Shri Jitendra Kumar Singh, IAS, Secretary, Labour & Skill Development, and presented strategic proposals aimed at strengthening workplace safety, improving compliance, and promoting social security initiatives throughout the state.


Focus on Zero Accident Vision in Jharkhand Industries

The core objective of the discussion was to introduce global best practices in industrial safety and align Jharkhand’s industries with the internationally recognized Vision Zero framework—a proactive approach to eliminating workplace accidents and occupational hazards.


Three Key Proposals Submitted

To accelerate the adoption of safety standards, the following proposals were presented:

1. State-Level Workshop on Zero Accident Vision

A large-scale workshop is proposed to:

  • Promote awareness of workplace safety standards
  • Encourage industry participation
  • Share best practices in accident prevention

2. Online Training Program for Safety Officers

A structured digital training program targeting:

  • HR Managers
  • Safety Officers
  • Welfare Officers from Labour Department and industries

The program will focus on:

  • Risk management
  • Safety compliance frameworks
  • Implementation of Vision Zero principles

3. Knowledge Partnership with Centre of Excellence (CoE)

A proposal to collaborate as a Knowledge Partner with the Centre of Excellence being Established by Bharat Chamber of Commerce with HQ @ Kolkata

This initiative will:

  • Promote Jharkhand Labour Welfare Schemes
  • Highlight best practices in occupational safety
  • Enable inter-state knowledge sharing through workshops and events

 Meeting with Chief Inspector of Factories ( CIF ) 

During the visit, a separate meeting was held with cheif Inspector of Factories ( CIF ) Jharkhand Mr Manish Sinha IAS.

As part of this engagement:

  • Copies of Safety Posters were submitted
  • A booklet titled “Safety & Health Are Human Rights” was formally handed over

The materials, including a presentation booklet outlining proposed safety initiatives, were well received and appreciated for their practical and impactful approach.


Upcoming Developments

Further discussions are scheduled as representatives from the Bharat Chamber of Commerce are expected to meet state officials between May 10 and May 15. These meetings will focus on:

  • Finalizing collaboration frameworks
  • Planning implementation strategies
  • Launching joint safety initiatives

Strengthening Industrial Safety in Jharkhand

This initiative marks a progressive move toward building a safe, compliant, and sustainable industrial ecosystem in Jharkhand. By integrating training, awareness programs, and institutional partnerships, the state is taking concrete steps toward achieving its Zero Accident Vision.
