Adopting Zero Accident Vision for Road Safety in Odisha

A detailed and forward-looking discussion was recently held with Mr. Rajput regarding the adoption of a “Zero Accident Vision” framework aimed at transforming road safety standards across Odisha. The discussion focused on the urgent need to reduce road fatalities through a combination of technology-driven enforcement, intelligent traffic management systems, stricter compliance mechanisms, and public awareness initiatives. Mr. Rajput emphasized the Government’s commitment to building safer roads by integrating data analytics, AI-enabled monitoring systems, blackspot identification, driver behavior assessment, and rapid emergency response mechanisms. The initiative is expected to align with national road safety objectives while creating a sustainable and citizen-centric transportation ecosystem for the state.

During the meeting, key strategies such as strengthening highway surveillance, implementing smart traffic control infrastructure, enhancing driver training programs, and promoting coordinated action between transport, police, healthcare, and urban development departments were extensively discussed. The “Zero Accident Vision” initiative aims not only to minimize accidents but also to establish a long-term culture of responsible driving and proactive road safety governance across Odisha. Industry experts and technology partners participating in the discussion highlighted the importance of cloud-based monitoring platforms, real-time incident detection, and integrated command-and-control systems in achieving measurable reductions in road accidents. The initiative marks a significant step toward positioning Odisha as a model state for smart and safe mobility infrastructure in India.
